Fernald's Marine

Fernald's Marine was founded along the River Parker in 1946 by Bunny Fernald and was in continuous operation until 2013.

After a 12 year break,  Fernald's Marine is reborn here on the internet.   Focusing on distributing our own line of boating accessories.

History:

In 1947 after returning home from serving as a "SeaBee" in the US Navy, Bunny Fernald started the Fernald's Marine business on the former location of the "Fernald's Auto Inn", a restaurant owned and managed by his Mother Ida.

Starting with a small showroom on the banks of the River Parker in Newbury, MA,  Bunny grew the business over the years.  Expanding the showroom in 1956 and adding a number of warehouses and workshops to the property.  It was also in 1956 that he added the access ramp and made improvements to allow for the launching of boats.

Over the years Fernald's built a reputation for marine services along with becoming the premier dealership for the Hi-Liner boat company, which was building wood runabouts in Ipswich.  In 1958, after being the biggest seller of Hi-Liner Boats, Bunny had the opportunity to buy the company and became the President of Hi-Liner.

As the boating industry changed, so did Fernald's Marine.  With the additions of his three sons to the business, Fernald's expanded in outboard sales and repair, Sailboats, Canoes, and Kayaks.  Over time becoming the largest dealer in the United States for the Old Town Canoe company.

Fernald's shut its doors in 2013,  a full 66 years after the opening of the first showroom.

Today:

The 3rd generation of Fernald's is excited to once again be back in the boating industry.  We develop, manufacture and distribute a variety of marine products.  All of our products are things that should be on every boat.  The water is unforgiving.   Our family has learned the importance of being prepared and focusing on safety while on the water.
